UXL Blog: New Contributions, SYCL in Clang and Enabling Open Standards for AI processors
UXL Foundation's Language SIG was the first group to meet earlier this year and there was a presentation from Intel’s Tom Honermann on the progress being made to upstream the DPC++ SYCL compiler project to the LLVM Clang project. This was an interesting insight into the technical decisions and work involved in integrating this SYCL compiler into the Clang compiler project.
Neural Graphics in an Afternoon with Slang
The intersection of computer graphics and machine learning is creating exciting new possibilities, from scene reconstruction with NeRFs and Gaussian splats to learning complex material properties, but getting started with neural graphics can seem daunting. Between understanding graphics APIs, shader programming, and automatic differentiation, there’s a lot to learn. That’s why the Slang team is introducing SlangPy, a new Python package that makes it dramatically easier to build neural graphics applications with Slang.
How Google Store Transformed Product Education with glTF 3D Models
Google’s transition toward more reliance on 3D models in product education and marketing materials had a significant impact, not only advancing the company’s own goals but resulting in important additions to the glTF ecosystem. This case study explores how Google leverages glTF to improve product education, cut costs, and streamline workflows while advancing the state of the art of 3D content creation.
